Phuket International Airport is the only airport on Phuket Island that accommodates both domestic and international flights. It is the third busiest airport in Thailand, following Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport. Strategically, Phuket International Airport plays a crucial role as the main gateway to the beautiful tourist destinations in Southern Thailand, known as the Prime Destination through a Secondary Hub. Under the supervision of the Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), Phuket International Airport has been developed and upgraded by constructing an expansion of the international passenger terminal. This expansion aims to increase the airport's capacity from 12.5 million passengers per year to 18 million passengers per year by 2029.
